Spiced Sugar Cookies
It's time to bake! Pastry Supervisor Liz Williams has created a new recipe for you to spice up your cookies!
1 cup butter
The scrapings of one vanilla bean
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup powdered sugar
1 egg
2 ½ cup all purpose flour
¾ tablespoon baking powder
½ tablespoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
Cream together the butter, vanilla bean seeds and both sugars until pale. Add the egg, scraping down the sides of the bowl afterwards. Add the dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Let dough rest for one hour before rolling about 1/8” thick and cutting into desired shapes. Bake on a parchment paper lined sheet pan for 4-6 minutes at 325’F. Let cool completely before moving from sheet pan.
GLAZE
2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
apple cider
Whisk to evenly distribute cinnamon within powdered sugar. Add just enough cider to create a glaze. With the help of a small offset spatula, spread a thin layer over glaze over each cookie.
