Refresh Your Skin

Refresh Your Skin

Summer skin can be glistening, golden and radiant from Summer sun. But constant applications of sun protections mixed with extended sun exposure can also cause skin to look a bit tired and in need of a refresh. Incorporating simple exfoliation and hydration techniques into your routine can help naturally brighten your skin and bring it back to life. As the Summer season winds down and we near cooler temperatures, it’s the perfect time to refresh your skincare steps to encourage hydration and rejuvenation.

If you’re visiting us at Blackberry Mountain, the Joanna Czech Method Facial includes steps and products that sculpt, exfoliate, brighten and increase blood flow – perfect for rejuvenating tired skin. First, your aesthetician will begin by performing a lifting and sculpting massage that increases circulation and blood flow, followed by a diamond exfoliation to remove dead skin cells. This allows your complexion to naturally brighten and later supports product absorption for a deeper hydration. Next, they will incorporate a combination of methods that may include various forms of microcurrent, ultrasound and cryotherapy that push targeted serums and antioxidants deeper into the skin, locking them into troubled areas that could use a little more love and attention after a Summer full of fun. Every facial is finished with rejuvenating LED light therapy and an oxygen mist. While every Joanna Czech Method Facial is similar in steps and techniques, each facial is 100% customized to the individual’s skin care needs and targeted issue areas to provide what your skin needs in the moment, so no two facials will be exactly the same.

If you’re not visiting Blackberry Mountain and looking for some at-home steps to take for revitalization, use this skincare order as a helpful map for encouraging rejuvenated and glowing skin at home. For even more of the Mountain experience at home, we’ve included a few of our favorite Joanna Czech product recommendations. Remember, you can always customize your products and techniques to what gives your skin the best results!

  • Step One: Use a cleanser suited to your skin type, and use a double cleanse system if your skin can handle it. This helps remove the buildup of make-up, oil and dirt that has collected on your face. Cleansing is important for keeping your pores clear and preventing skin irritations.
  • Step Two: Exfoliate. It’s best to exfoliate when your face is clean and free of product. A gentle exfoliant helps remove dead skin cells, without damaging the skin, which can soften the feel of your skin as new layers of cells emerge. Over-exfoliating can dry out your skin, so it’s very important to understand how often your skin needs and can benefit from exfoliation.
  • Step Three: Use a toner. This will prep the skin and grab any small remaining traces of dirt and grime before skincare application. It’s also great for tightening your pores and keeping your face clean and fresh before applying make-up and products.

  • Step Four: Apply a vitamin C serum and/or other serums. Serums can be used separately or layered. Incorporating a vitamin c serum to your skincare routine encourages a glowy complexion. Vitamin c is known to stimulate collagen production, which is great for adding brightness and keeping the skin looking fresh. Other soothing serums are similar, often encouraging collagen production, and can be used to help elevate the look and feel of skin by reducing the appearance of redness or inflammation and comforting stressed skin.

  • Step Five: Moisturize. Moisturizer should be applied after your serum(s), providing added hydration. Preventing dry skin as much as possible is important in all seasons, and it’s equally important to moisturize in warmer weather even though you may feel your skin is oilier. Moisturizer is proven to build up the skin barrier and product against harsh conditions, while soothing and improving your skin texture and tone. Hydrated skin keeps irritants at bay while helping your face look healthier overall.
  • Bonus Step: Once or twice a week, in between toner and serum, treat yourself to a face mask! Face masks are great for hydrating your skin, removing excess oils and improving pore appearance. Plus, this is a great way to recreate a spa-like experience in the comfort of your home. Be sure to find masks with quality ingredients and, as with all skin care, do a patch test to ensure there is nothing on the mask that will irritate your skin.
