Garden Beet Sangria

October 31, 2018
Garden Beet Sangria

While some don’t care for the deep earthiness of beets, they can really add a fun complexity to a recipe when that earthiness is balanced out with refreshing citrus. Even those who don't love beets on the plate will enjoy the subtly sweet flavor profile of this cocktail. It’s very light and refreshing with just a hint of earthiness to balance the taste. Plus, the beet juice lends a beautiful pop of fall color. This might just be your new favorite way to enjoy beets!

Garden Beet Sangria

  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 3/4 oz beet juice simple syrup (To make, juice fresh beets and add to a basic simple syrup.)
  • 3/4 oz lemon juice
  • 2 dashes cranberry bitters
  • Heavy splash of Scarpetta Pinot Grigio
  • Top with a club soda

To Mix

In a cocktail tin, shake Cointreau, simple syrup, lemon juice and bitters with ice.

In a wine glass, add your favorite fruits/herbs and ice. We use rosemary and sliced oranges. Strain the mixture from the cocktail tin into the glass.

Top with Scarpetta Pinot Grigio and a splash of club soda for a bubbly, refreshing finish.
