If you had known me a few years back, it is very likely you would never have had imagined me opening bottles of wine, explaining and serving food, or shaking and mixing cocktails. I was a full-fledged foodie that loved to cook and didn’t care to give wine and spirits the time of day. However, after one enlightening day of a beverage management course I was taking, I discovered just how wonderful a well-made cocktail or crafted bottle of wine could taste. Now that I have shifted gears from the kitchen to the bar and wine cellar. I am still very thankful for my background in culinary arts. It has taught me the importance of different flavors and products, that when brought together, can create something harmonious. Thus, using prior experiences of flavor combinations and the ideal of seasonality and freshness, the Farmstead Firecracker was created. By using Blackberry Farm strawberry jam, muddled garden mint, freshly squeezed lemon, jalapeño and house-made vanilla syrup, the cocktail honors Blackberry Farm’s mission to stay fresh and seasonal as well as making a unique experience. Once tasted, flavors of stewed strawberries, lingering mint, and subtle spice pop on the palate, leading into a finish of vanilla sweetness and cleansing ginger and lemon-lime bubbles that keeps bringing you back for more.
