The start of a new year is the perfect time to think about refreshing your space. Christine Carney, director of Blackberry Farm Design, is weighing in on the interior design trends she most resonates with for 2025.

Redefining Earth Tones
Celebrating the colors that surround you doesn’t have to mean leaning hard into neutral hues. In 2025, Blackberry Farm Design is updating spaces at Blackberry Mountain to move away from neutrals and showcase a richer color palate. The Mountain is a prime example of interiors being an extension of the exterior, but there is a range of color in nature to use for inspiration that goes well beyond the beige and tan shades you might picture when someone says “earth tones”. The Design team is keeping the color palate relevant to the view but playing within the colors that are available – rich greens, soft blues, terracotta and beyond.

Color Drenching
In Southern Living’s recent article about paint color trends for 2025, Christine shared that she’s ready for more color drenching this year. With the right color, it’s an opportunity to make a bold statement while also maintaining the calm of a space. A monochromatic room creates such a cool canvas to let pops of your personal design style and personality shine in the details.

Taken with Texture
The team has been talking a lot about how the texture of something influences how we perceive it and how it works in a space. Understanding how to play with texture and use that influence to accomplish your vision, and not being afraid to, opens up so much opportunity to make a space unique.

Ceiling Details
The Design team’s current favorite ceiling makeover? Wallpaper! It’s a great way to make a space feel special, and it’s so approachable, whether you’re working with a designer or freshening up your home on your own. There are options in every color, and with any pattern so you can find the perfect fit for any room. If you change nothing else, you can add a great wallpaper to the ceiling, put up some drapes, and it will create an entirely new energy.

Layers on Layers
In 2025, the team is leaning into maximalism over minimalism, finding thoughtful ways to combine colors, patterns and textures for a result that feels truly authentic and inviting. They’re leaning into designs that celebrate the unique story of a space and the people who use it.

Make it You
The most important trend to embrace this year is the inspiration to create a space that is exactly what you want it to be. Rather than getting too caught up in what’s trending, figure out how to make the trends work for you. In 2025, embrace showing your perspective and personality in a space. Experiment with how to put the things you already own into your updated design vision. Don’t be afraid to add more. Play with combinations. Create a space that feels like you – That’s where you’ll be happiest!
