Wind Down Ritual
Sleep is one of the most deeply nourishing gifts we give ourselves, and each evening is an invitation to receive this gift. Approaching it with a calming ritual and intentionally settling sets us up for exponential ease.
This ritual is merely a suggestion and starting point. Discover what an evening routine might look like for you, what works best for your body and mind, and begin to welcome rest.
Reflecting
Light a candle. If scent is calming for you, pick a relaxing scent that you can enjoy but won't overpower your space.
Notice your breath. Simply acknowledge your natural inhale and exhale.
Welcome a relaxed, easy breath.
As you engage with the thought prompts below, remember that the light of a candle is a soft glow, not one to read by or do precise, detailed work under. It’s a light that is soft in presence, free and undirected as it flickers. Approach the end of your day with this softness as you reflect. No need to linger or dig for answers. If one does not surface right away, simply move to the next reflection.
1. One moment you are deeply grateful for today.
2. Spend a few seconds focused on something you want to release before approaching rest.
3. Acknowledge one thing you look forward to tomorrow morning.
4. Offer gratitude for your waking moments, resting moments and sleeping moments today as you blow out your candle.
Settle into sleep.
