Tuning Out and Tuning In
Guests, as well as the Blackberry team, have fallen in love with the craft of soundbathing on Blackberry Mountain. During soundbathing sessions, healer Koko T. Bear uses a variety of tools to accomplish a range of sounds, tones and vibrations that lead the class through a meditation that quiets the mind, allows natural healing to occur and ultimately leaves you deeply grounded.
Sound has the ability to trigger different emotions; it can be relaxing, energizing, aggravating and even moving. This journey through the soundscapes often evokes a sense of peace as it naturally balances the central nervous system.
One tool Koko utilizes is a tuning fork. Tuning forks are two-pronged instruments that resonate at specific pitches when you strike them and create vibration. While you may be familiar with tuning forks as a tool to tune musical instruments, they are becoming increasingly popular as a meditation accessory. They are applied to the physical and subtle body, as a result the vibration removes energy blocks and balances the system much like the science behind acupuncture.
Why are so many people using tuning forks? Blackberry Mountain Wellness Director Katelyn Young shares a few of the positive effects of tuning forks.
· Provides instantaneous, deep state of relaxation
· Improves mental clarity and brain functioning
· Increases your level of physical energy and mental concentration
· Relieves stress by drawing your body into a centered space
· Brings your nervous system into balance
· Integrates left and right brain thought patterns
She loves that soundbathing allows you to connect and disconnect all at once. Through this practice, you tune into your inner voice achieving a deeper understanding of oneself while unplugging and tuning out the outside world. Sound is a powerful tool that transforms oneself physical and mentally.
