The All Purpose Cocktail

Many people frequently inquire about the process of creating cocktails. Often, it is much more involved than one might think. Each spirit’s density is considered in combination with another. At times, many hours are spent combining various liquors that are tossed aside before the perfect combination is acquired. However, most of the time, seasonal flavors are considered as well as taste sensations that are sweet, bitter, light or strong. Sometimes, the best cocktails start out as a “mocktail” for a guest. Once it is made, it is only natural to wonder what alcohol will perfect the new creation. This is how the All Purpose Cocktail was created. In the beginning, 5 different variations were tried, and it was determined that this drink works with many flavor profiles. So, the refreshing citrus of orange and lemon juice, the addition of fresh garden mint, 2 different types of bitters, and some ginger ale create the base. Still the question remains, which liquor to use, Vodka, Gin, Rum, Whiskey or Tequila? This concoction really is an All Purpose Cocktail, as it lends easily to each individual’s preference.

The All Purpose Cocktail

1½ ounces of Vodka, Gin, Rum, Whiskey or Tequila
½ ounce of Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
½ ounce of Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
2 dashes of Fee Bros. Gin Barrel Aged Orange Bitters
1 dash of Fee Bros. Whiskey Barrel Aged Bitters
Handful of Fresh Garden Mint
Ginger Ale

In a mixing tin with ice, add everything except the ginger ale. Shake until cold and then strain into a chilled coupe glass with 3 large ice cubes. Top the cocktail with ginger ale and garnish with a fresh mint topper.
