Story
Tequila and Mezcal
Tequila and mezcal are two well-known Mexican spirits that have been around for centuries and have the stories to go along with them. While they are similar, they differ in flavor profile, where they are produced and how they are produced. With our tequila and mezcal tasting at Blackberry Mountain, guests have the opportunity to not only try different types, but also learn the history behind each spirit.
Our tasting begins with our Beverage team carefully choosing what to offer, and it’s more than simply selecting what’s popular. Our mixologists want each offering to reflect our love and passion for sustainability, which means that in addition to ranking taste, they research each brand to discover the production and harvest processes. Once the spirits have been chosen, the fun of tasting begins!
“We really like to give an in-depth history about each tequila and mezcal that’s offered,” said Blackberry Mountain Beverage Manager Matt Poli. “That’s what the details are. Why are we tasting specific flavors? What makes this one special? What is the company’s philosophy? Is it appreciated? Answering each of these questions allows us to provide our guests with history and knowledge they may not have known before.”
The opportunity to explore these spirits allows our team and our guests to consider what is created in the incredible world of beverage on a global scale. While these spirits are not native to our area, they carry with them a depth of history and story that we love to celebrate in our region and beyond.
