Run with the Beagles and Fly Like an Eagle

An invitation for foxhunters and friends to experience new horizons at Blackberry Farm…

Greetings from the Stables at Blackberry! This season we are breaking new ground during two of our foxhunt weekends and you are invited to take part.
Mark your calendars for the weekends of January 2-4 and February 6-8.

In January, we will hold our Foxhunt Seminar and Hunter Pace Ride on Friday. Saturday morning, we’ll head out on foot with the Octorara Beagles from Virginia, led by Master of Beagles, Lawrence Bright, believed by many to be the finest beagle pack in America! Beagling is the very best way to learn about hunting with hounds. It is up close and personal and does not require a horse. All ages may participate. It is exciting and exhilarating and a great way to enjoy a winter day outdoors. Following the hunt, we’ll gather by the fire for a traditional hunt breakfast with hearty fare and toasts to the day! On Sunday afternoon, riders will gather with horses at one of our premiere hunting venues for a day of galloping and following the foxhound pack. The roar of hounds is powerful! Join us for this action packed weekend of great hunting and fine dining.

In February, we will again conduct the Foxhunt Seminar and Hunter Pace Ride on Friday. Saturday, we will begin our day with Jim Heptinstall of Forest Hawk Falconry. We will follow Jim as he hunts one of his magnificent hawks on property. This is a “do not miss” opportunity to witness the incredible and ancient bound between falconer and raptor! A falconer for more than 35 years, Jim is an enthusiastic teacher, passionate about his birds. You will experience falconry in a spectacular setting like no place else on earth! Following the hunt, we will enjoy a sumptuous hunt breakfast together with an opportunity to sip wine and spend one-on-one time with Jim. Sunday is foxhunting day for riders and adventurers on foot following the Tennessee Valley hounds! Tally Ho!
