Relief for Southeast

April 28, 2011
Relief for Southeast

Over the last eight years, we have done our best to offer assistance and specifically a place to stay and eat for those devastated in the days after Hurricane Katrina, Nashville floods and other national disasters when everything had been lost and a few days to be taken care of and gather thoughts was important. Our East Tennessee area was safe from those natural disasters that hit our southern neighbors. In this case, the miraculous thing about the situation was that Blackberry Farm was right in the middle of the devastation, but somehow woke from the scary night with hardly a limb down! I am taking that as a sign, and I hope we can assist and touch the souls of a few in need when so much has been lost.

If you are a victim: Please call and speak to us about how we can best help you with providing a comfortable place to stay and eat while you recharge or simply need a roof over your head, even if for a few days. Please respect this offer for those qualified by significant loss as we have limited availability and want to give to those most in need.

What can you do to help? Today, we are reaching out to you to help us help those most affected by the storm. For every reservation made in the next week for the next two months, we will offer a "relief stay" for a friend of yours affected by the tornados or someone you know of who is struggling with the destruction or simply without a place to stay.

Beyond offering beds, we have spent the day gathering supplies from the Blackberry closets including cleaning supplies, shampoo, blankets and clothing from our retail shop to send through the Red Cross to victims in the Southeast area. We have also partnered with ALCOA to provide canned water to those same areas where drinking water may be lost or contaminated. Read more on Friends of the Farm to find out what we are doing and how you can help.

Blackberry Team. Our Blackberry Team members are pulling together to bring in supplies – everything from clothing and shoes to house hold items – to help families that have lost everything in northern Alabama and East Tennessee.

Sincerely,

Sam Beall, Proprietor
