Making Suds

Camp Blackberry is sharing a step-by-step for making and personalizing your own soap, and washing has never been more fun!

Supplies:
Glycerin or shea butter cubes
Silicone molds of your choosing – Try different fun shapes, letters and designs.
Mason jar(s) for melting
Popsicle sticks
Food coloring (optional)
Essential oils (optional)

Directions:

  1. Have each child choose their favorite silicone mold.
  2. Add a few glycerin or shea butter cubes to a mason jar. Add cubes to different jars if you’re planning on creating different scents and colors.
  3. Melt the glycerin or shea butter cubes in 10 second intervals in the microwave.*
  4. Stir until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Add food coloring and essential oils to your mason jars if you want to add color or scent to the soap.
  6. Mix until fully combined.
  7. Pour into the selected molds and allow to set and dry completely. Refrigeration is not required, but it can help with faster drying/setting time.

Now just add water and have fun making bubbles and getting clean!

*Please always have adult supervision when melting glycerin or shea butter cubes in the microwave. Mason jars can become very hot and may require proper heat protection for removal and while being poured into molds.
