Inside and Out

From the treatments they are gravitating toward in the spa to a grounding practice designed to reconnect with nature, we asked our Wellness experts what they recommend for the season shift into Spring.

CONNECT

Go hiking to reconnect with the land.

At the Farm, we our newest Deep Healing Woods (Forest Bathing) offering, Flower Essence Meditation, is perfect for fostering a connection with the land. Flowers and plants follow light to break through the Earth’s surface, showing us our own grounding possibilities. Learn about flower essences, forage and forest bathe on a guided hike through the woods. Embrace a gentle and refreshing perspective in a fully guided meditation and chance to reconnect with nature’s rhythm.

On the Mountain, Journey to the Edge is a 45-minute to one-hour hike from the Firetower to the Edge platform on the north side of the Mountain. The Edge offers an incredible view and the opportunity to move and stretch as you take in the scenery.

Meditate to foster the calmness of Winter, even as you welcome the energy of Spring.

We offer yoga and meditation at both the Farm and the Mountain. The practices are good on their own, but they are also a beautiful way to balance your body after enjoying a hike. Meditation and yoga can be enjoyed at the Edge at Blackberry Mountain, one of the most amazing overlooks on property, before hiking back for a healing cadence of movement in nature.

SOOTHE

Experience a spa treatment that aligns with the shift of the season.

Healing Herbs & Flowers at the Wellhouse at Blackberry Farm is a delightful massage that offers a multitude of therapeutic benefits. Guests choose an essential oil: ginger to cleanse and purify or Lavender to relax the body and mind. Then, muscular tension is dispelled with a healing massage using potent blends of essential oils. Next, poultices filled with farm-fresh herbs and flowers are steeped in warm water and applied to the body. The soothing warmth induces a deeper state of relaxation while the heat and herbs signal the body to regenerate and repair tissues.

The Herbal Poultice Massage at Blackberry Mountain applies warm herbal poultices to ease inflammation and restore muscle tissue. When the tissue has been warmed, assisted stretches and cold stones work together to ease tight muscles and improve flexibility.

GROUND

Connect with the season through a quick, intentional grounding practice.

Grounding can be as simple as five to 10 intentional minutes each day dedicated to standing outside barefoot. Feel the grass and earth beneath your feet and the fresh air and sunshine all around you. Take a few deep breaths, focusing on nothing but your breathing and the calming sensation of nature.

There is also a lot of buzz around the benefits of morning sun. Stanford neuroscientist Andrew Huberman suggests exposure to morning sunlight every day. It is thought that the morning sun is a beneficial health pillar that works together with other important wellness focuses, like daily movement, nutrition and good sleep, to support your natural circadian rhythm and improve your day.

APPRECIATE

Take in the beauty of Spring as it blooms.

There are many notable spots at Blackberry where you can observe nature’s transition to Spring, seeing green wash over the mountains and buds popping up all around ready to grow. While it will take a little time for wildflowers to be in full bloom, the view that Wellness Manager Meghan Henley is looking forward to most is in the Valley at Blackberry Mountain, looking out over the field of wildflowers. “It is so inspiring!”

ALIGHN

Set your intention for the transition to Spring.

Find a mantra or statements of gratitude that inspires you in this season. If you need a suggestion, Meghan offers one of her favorites, “I am grateful for my times of rest and my times of growth.”
