Here is what we would do for March

MARCH: Each Spring when the first shoots of green start to show, we start thinking of everything we will do, “come grass!”

See Spring Wildflowers
East Tennessee is fortunate to have wildflowers eight months of the year, but it is the springtime where our mountains show their colors best. Join an adventure guide on a hike in the Smokies to see some of the 1,400 flowering species of plants.

Wake up to Yoga
We love doing yoga outside when we can, and March brings even more mild mornings to take advantage of Blackberry’s beautiful countryside. Be sure to start your day right with a morning session.

New Jam
Check out our new Pepper Jam in the gift shops this month! It is delicious on our Brebis with crackers as well as on sandwiches, grilled meats and sausages. Get it before it is gone.

Take an Afternoon Paddle
March is the beginning of our paddling season. Take a leisurely trip to Lake Chilhowee to explore the beautiful waterways of our area.

All In
Join the Gardeners as they sow a plethora of Spring seeds. The soil is plowed, the compost turned in, so it’s time for row after row of heirloom carrots, beets, peas, onions and potatoes. We’re betting the table hoping for an edible jackpot!

The Eyes Have It
We’re planting our favorite crop in March - potatoes! From ancient varieties from Peru to buttery French fingerlings, the Spring soil is the perfect place to sow some tasty tubers. Join us in the heirloom Garden and help us sink some spuds.

Something to Toast
We are pleased to report that in March we will be pouring two wonderful Champagnes by the Glass in the Barn Dining Room. One being from a small production grower-producer named Stephane Coquillette; the other being the sought after 2000 vintage Dom Perignon.

Fish a March Brown
The dry fly fishing has already begun in the southern Appalachians, with the next hatch being the March Brown. This tasty mayfly is a great pattern to fish dry for weary mountain trout. Ask about heading into the National Park to chase the wild trout of the Smokies.

Rosé Season
Rosé season is beginning again and what better way to enjoy a spring lunch than to accompany it with a bottle of Chateau Desclans Rosé available at the Main House Dining Room.

Night Cap
End your meal with a flight of ports from Dirk Niepoort’s esteemed port house. We’ve added new vintages this month!
