As we welcome a new year full of possibilities, we find ourselves focused on beginnings. Whether it’s the start of a day, the kick off to a celebration, the commencement of a new routine or an upcoming life shift, we have the power to take a moment of intention to set the scene and the energy for each beginning – big and small.

Use these examples as inspiration for thinking about how you want to create meaningful beginnings in your day and in your life as you greet the potential of a new year.

A New Day
When you wake up, find a moment that brings you joy or peace to initiate the day. Take a moment to sip water or warm tea and be present before you engage with technology. Recreate the sensation of a cold plunge with a cold shower to energize you. Dedicate 5 minutes to soft stretching, loosening up your body for the day ahead.

Gathered Together
Set yourself up to enjoy the occasion just as much as your guest do. Arrange your cheeseboard in advance. Our cheesemaker always recommends letting your cheeses sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before enjoying to experience the best flavor. Use lighting your taper candles as a small moment of ritual to stay grounded in the excitement of the occasion. Have a fun game on hand as an easy way to spark conversation and laughter, immediately making your guests feel comfortable and at home.

Wind Down
After a day of work, caretaking, special events, errands or any other tasks that requested your energy, it’s important to prioritize time to come back to yourself. If methodical action helps calm your mine, try working on a puzzle for a few moments each day. If retreating into a great story relaxes you, watch a movie or read a book, allowing yourself to focus on the story rather than be distracted by multitasking. If you need to release energy and clutter from your mind, journaling is a great daily practice before you re-engage for your evening.

Bedtime Ritual
Find something that relaxes you and prepares you for rest that you can look forward to at the end of each day. Take a warm bath with thoughtfully scented products for an aromatherapy experience that eases both mind and body. Create a skincare routine that aligns with your personal wellness needs. Enjoy a steaming cup of chamomile tea, or commit to breathwork exercises that are designed to calm you.

As you start any day, event or moment, remember that you can set the tone. Initiate new rituals that keep you present this year.
