Fresh Spring Taste from the Garden
Over the years, I have never found anything quite as delightful as the first taste’s of the spring season.
Everything from the garden is so beautiful, fresh, green and full of delicate ranges of flavors. One of my favorites is English peas, as they have such a fresh sweet flavor. When picking the first few that are ready, I find it hard to fill a container to take to the kitchen, because I want to shell each pod and eat the peas right there in the garden.
The first small radishes are so crisp and flavorful, and add a tasty crunch to salads or when pulled from the soil and eaten on the spot. Then there are the first baby carrots, which seem to have the sweetest flavor when sampled as soon as they are pulled. My first reaction is usually, “what a heavenly flavor!”
These small wonders in no way resemble the older one’s, which are purchased at the store in plastic bags.
You have just tasted another one of the spring season’s miracles at a time when the soil itself seems to be alive with spring flavor!
