Doug and Annette's Memory

Favorite memories:

Watching my children explore and be curious:

Our children were young when we first visited. We were astounded to see how long our son could be enthralled with tying flies. He and Doug enjoyed afternoons wading in the streams learning to cast … mesmerized as the fish swam around them in the clear cool water! I think they may have eventually caught one.

My daughter was very young — so much fun to see her making friends with a newborn lamb. And later trying to catch a bigger lamb so she could give it a ‘hug'. The thrill was in the chase since the lamb knew better!

And her very first ride on a Rocky Mountain horse as we explored the trails. She was young but with a little riding experience under her belt, the guide allowed her to go along as he tended the lead rope. One of her best days ever!

And then a tremendous hit when they both were introduced to the Larder (oh my!) tasting such freshly made, cured meats for the first time … and wonderful Farmstead cheese and of course the yummy preserves. They kept asking to go back for another ‘tour’ :-)

For us together as we enjoyed a crisp glass of white wine while Sam sliced freshly picked radishes from Blackberry’s gardens and we dipped them in freshly churned butter and a little sea salt. Yum! So simple and pristine yet so perfect! And a fun night around the table with the Bealls!

And for me the evenings just after dinner were wonderful. Breathing in the clean, fresh air and experiencing the stillness, wandering hand-in-hand with Doug, love of my life. And the Spa – an amazing massage which was some much needed me-time!
