Dogwood Whiskey Sourgrass
Sorrel is a wild herb that grows naturally around Blackberry Farm. It is nicknamed 'sourgrass' by locals because it has a sour, lemony flavor. DogwoodSommelier Meg Edwards uses wild sorrel to give a fresh flavor to this traditional whiskey sour recipe. It is a perfect ingredient for this mix and addsa bit of green herbaceousness to a classic cocktail.
Ingredients
One handful of fresh sorrel
1.5 oz Maker's mark bourbon
.5 oz simple syrup
0.5 oz lemon juice
One egg white
Muddle the fresh sorrel with the bourbon for a few minutes to extract the flavor of the sorrel.
Strain the whiskey into a shaker tin.
Add simple syrup, lemon juice and egg white.
Shake with ice for 30 seconds.
Strain onto fresh ice cubes in a rocks glass.
Garnish with a Sorrel leaf.
