Celebrating Earth Day at The Wellhouse

Celebrating Earth Day at The Wellhouse

Here at the Wellhouse we like to celebrate Mother Earth on a daily basis. From the time the Wellhouse was still plans on paper, we have made conscious choices to lessen our impact on the environment. For example, we installed a geothermal heat pump for a central heating and cooling system that transfers heat to or from the ground, specifically from Old Walland Pond.

Like a refrigerator or air conditioner, these Geothermal systems use a heat pump to force the transfer of heat from the ground. Heat pumps can transfer heat from a cool space to a warm space, against the natural direction of flow, or they can enhance the natural flow of heat from a warm area to a cool one. A ground source heat pump exchanges heat with the ground. This is much more energy-efficient because underground temperatures are more stable than air temperatures through the year.

Our building is also furbished with reclaimed barn-wood. The look and feel of barn-wood stairs, celling panels, flooring, doors and tables are grounding and bring the earth element inside.

In addition, we have a beautiful display of black and white photographs throughout the Wellhouse displaying portraits of the local scenery and animals. Observing these images makes you feel like you have stepped outside with Mother Nature and all of her creatures.
We also use all LED light fixtures for the lighting of our building. The lighting in the Wellhouse is on a timer allowing us to temper our usage of electricity.

Lastly, all of the products used in services or sold in retail in the Wellhouse have never been tested on animals along with being paraben and preservative free. Our belief in the Wellhouse is that any product used on your body should be as pure as possible and both healthy for you and the environment. We also partner with companies that use minimal packaging and are conscious companies.

We invite you to spend time with us at the Wellhouse this Earth Day and see our initiatives for yourself!
