Camp Blackberry
This year at Camp Blackberry, we are proud to announce the addition of a program designed specifically for children eight and older. The Adventurers Camp allows for older children to learn and discover aspects of Blackberry Farm that fits their level of understanding and skill. Meanwhile, the Explorers Camp allows for children four and up to experience Blackberry Farm “kid style.”
One such example is that the adventurers may take a basic class on canoeing, then have a race across Walland Pond. While at the same time, the explorers are crafting their own recycled boats to race down Hesse Creek. Each day is specifically crafted to allow the kids to learn in a fun atmosphere that keeps them fully involved in every aspect of Blackberry Farm. There is a different theme to each day of the week. By spending a full week at Blackberry Farm, your child can get a taste of everything Camp Blackberry has to offer. Or you can book your stay around the days that are of specific interest to your child.
Sunday is National Park Day, which features Appalachian heritage activities, a foraging hike, Native American games, and a survival skills workshop. Monday is Culinary Day, when children will harvest from the garden, clean and prep food, and cook over an open fire. Tuesday is Farm Animal Day. This day is very popular because it allows the children to visit all of the animals at Blackberry Farm, including the chickens and sheep. Nature Day is on Wednesdays and features a hike, stream ecology, and an introduction to beekeeping. Thursdays are Garden Days. We begin the morning in the garden shed learning about heirloom seeds, spinning top gourds and shelling peas. Following those activities, the campers will till up the soil in the youth garden, learn about composting, and seed saving. Friday is Outdoor Adventure Day. We will play frisbee golf, go bouldering, and learn about boating. Artisan Day on Saturday is a brand new addition this year. On this day, children will have the opportunity to work in the open air, creating ceramics and working with a variety of other mediums. It will also include a musical instrument workshop where children can create a custom instrument. Then they will light up the stage as they put on a performance never to be forgotten. There is definitely something for everyone! Each night includes dinner at the Teensy’s Dining room and a menu specifically designed for children. The meal is followed by a movie at our new outdoor theater. We invite you and your family to come and see what Blackberry Farm’s family program truly has to offer.

“Appreciation through Exploration”: that’s our motto at Camp Blackberry.
We are excited to begin a new season of long summer days spent catching crawdads in Hesse Creek, feeding chickens at the Dairy Barn, digging potatoes in the Garden, and making fresh blackberry jam in the Gambrel kitchen!
These are just a few of the activities that children can experience through Camp Blackberry, our program for 4 –
11 year olds. We have a fun theme each day, which directs our exploration of an area of the Farm. Campers learn to appreciate the joys of working
the earth and helping things grow on Garden Day. Farm Animal Day encourages kids to learn about new animals and their care, and possibly make some
new friends of a different sort! Culinary Day is a chance to create tasty treats from the bountiful blessings of being on a Farm.
We are also excited about some new activities we will offer with Outdoor Adventure Day, including Frisbee Golf, and National Park Day, where we will help “give back” to our natural surroundings by replanting some trees.
Children who come to Camp Blackberry make memories that can last a lifetime. Come join our Exploration!
