At-Home Watercolors

Getting creative at home just got even more fun! Blackberry Mountain Wellness Manager Meghan Henley’s DIY watercolor recipe allows you to bring the beauty and peace of watercolor painting into your home without even buying paint. Paint your interpretation of the visions in your everyday life or go totally abstract. Let your inner artist lead you.

Ingredients:
5 Tablespoons baking soda
5 Tablespoons cornstarch
5 Tablespoons white vinegar
1 teaspoon corn syrup
Food coloring

Mix the baking soda and cornstarch together with a fork before adding the white vinegar. Once the vinegar begins to bubble, begin whisking until the mixture becomes a smooth paste. Add your corn syrup and continue to stir. Divide the mixture into a paint palette, individual cups or even an ice cube tray, and add one drop of food coloring to each. Feel free to get creative by combining a few colors. Then use immediately! If your paint begins to thicken over time, just add a little more vinegar to the color and stir again.

Let your imagination come to life on the paper while you paint. Whether you’re a new artist or a pro, an at-home, DIY watercolor session is something everyone can enjoy!
