A Word of Intention

A Word of Intention

Setting a resolution or specific goal has never really resonated with me. After the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays have begun to slow, rather than looking forward, I tend to look back. I pour a cup of tea and sit down for a very intentional review of the last year.

Since I journal each day, analyzing the past year is quite easy for me! I find that I often underline a word or two each day. So, I take time to look for patterns and synchronicities that can remind me of the ups and downs. Reviewing the little joys, or even the hardships, reminds me of the lessons I have learned and often reminds me how far I have come.

After I have spent purposeful time reflecting on the past year, I then choose one word as my intention for the new year. I write this word down in my “new year journal” to return to for focus and growth. I enjoy “watching” my journaled words over the year to see just how it ends up showing in different areas of my life. This year I am looking forward to getting to know and reflect on myself. My word for 2022 will be “introspection.” I look forward to seeing what this year brings!
