A Summer Skincare Must

A Summer Skincare Must

Just like the elements of the natural world around us, our skin can change and react differently within the different seasons. Summertime means elevated exposure to sun, more time in the water, increased sweat production and changing levels in humidity – all factors that can affect your skin.

Sunscreen is, of course, a great step to prioritize in your skincare routine, especially in the Summer if you plan to enjoy the gorgeous weather. But what is our Wellness team’s number one Summer skincare recommendation? Moisturize!

It can feel counterproductive at times to use your moisturizer or a hydrating facial oil during a season when we often feel oilier. But maintaining moisturization in your routine is so important.

If you notice your skin becoming oilier during the Summer, it could actually be a sign of dehydration from the Summer heat. Our bodies natural response is to increase moisture production to protect from drying. Continuing to use your moisturizer will help your skin feel satiated and hydrated.

Sunscreen, sweat, makeup and environmental factors build up on our skin as we enjoy fun in the sun. After cleansing your face, your skin will welcome the clean rehydration. And remember, it’s all about knowing your skin and using what works for you. While it’s important to keep moisturizing, you may want to try a lighter moisturizer in the Summer and save the more intense creams and oils for the Winter. Choose a product that won’t clog your pores but will leave you feeling refreshed.

A recommendation from the Wellness team: Biologique Crème Verte Espoir A.R. is calming and reduces redness for Summer skin.
